Wait a minute-you mean this is the real campaign even for the grownups?!?!?

Mark Morford brings it yet again:
Repubs pick a fight about Vietnam while Bush ruins America right now? Is the nation drunk?
What, too bitter? Resentful? Too much like I advocate stringing Karl Rove up by his large intestine and slapping him with a rainbow flag until he cries? All apologies.Hahahahahahaaa. *sob*
Hey, it happens. Sometimes you just gotta purge. Vent. Let it all out. Because, really, it all makes you ask: Is everyone on drugs? Mass delusional? Are we just blind? Or is the vicious GOP spin machine really that powerful? Why, yes, yes, it is. And isn't it just the funniest thing?
Yes, let us laugh until we cry. Let us note how the Bush-induced death toll is now up to 964 U.S. soldiers -- a staggering 855 above the total since the infamous, insulting "Mission accomplished" quip -- which is, if the GOP plays it just so, right on track to reach 1,000 U.S. dead by the time the Republican convention kicks into high gear. What fun!
And that 1,000th soldier will fall in abject pain, his or her life utterly wasted for a cause that never really existed, that no one actually believes in, that was all built on a lie to begin with. And he or she will die just as all the war hawks and all the right-wing homophobes and all the cigar-chompin' corporate CEOs gather in New York and pop their champagne and cheer the true triumvirate o' GOP happiness: God, guns and money.
Yes, it's enough to make you laugh out loud. Until you don't.
Bush re-election campaign rebuffs USOC
Do we really want a President who refuses to honor the wishes of the very people he is using to supposedly support his campaign? The Iraq team and the Olympics DO NOT SUPPORT you so stop saying they do.
Man, he is such a petulant pisshead.
Heee. I know I am being spammy today, but this little gem about Laura Bush snubbing P. Diddy from Electablog is just too funny not to share:
A Hip, A Hop and A Skip-Out
...maybe if we were talking about 50 Cent, the First Lady's hestitation would make sense. After all, the Gangsta Rappers for Truth have long insisted that 50 Cent was never actually shot in the line of the drug dealing or gang banging and that in fact his rough-guy image was entirely self-inflicted (not to mention recent claims that he was never actually In Da Club at all).Heeeeee. I am still giggling over that.
Aw man. My heart goes out to TBogg today. I think I'll go call my Daddy now.
From The Left Coaster:
Jokesters now the go-to guys for U.S. candidates
Kerry needed to appear on The Daily Show because the American media itself has become ridiculous and he needs the endorsement of the jokers, not political pundits. The cable news shows that Jon Stewart mocks have become absurdly partisan. The print press is going through a period of self-flagellation as newspaper after newspaper apologizes and backtracks on its initial coverage of the need to go to war with Iraq.As usual, the Canadians understand the absurdity of Americans. Just a big ol' WORD to the whole article from this pinko commie.
There is no longer a mainstream media in the United States. Every outlet postures and preens. Comedy is now as important as political commentary. Only the jokers have integrity.
The last thing Kerry said, as he left The Daily Show, was a remark to Stewart. He said, "You do a great job." In that, Kerry was correct. It's sad, but true.
I thought Kerry was very good on The Daily Show. He was a little bit anvilicious on the issues, but I think he did a good job just letting Jon do his thing and showing that he has a sense of humour about everything. I loved what he said about Bush being stubborn. That is very much how I feel about it. I think it takes a bigger man to admit when he is wrong than it does to just continue fucking up to avoid dealing with the truth. AND! He was wearing a Livestrong on his wrist, too.
I also spent the whole evening at the Bookstore and not one customer asked me about Swift Boat Republicans for Big Fat Lies and their stupid book. Woo!
Both The Washington Post and The Houston Chronicle are reporting that Senator John Kerry is going to be on tonight's episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. On the TDS official site, they have Senator Norm Coleman as tonight's guest. So, either he got bumped or the papers are wrong. Unless Kerry is taping his appearance tonight to air later.
Of course, I have to fend off idiots trying to buy Unfit for Command work tonight, so I will miss the first airing. If Kerry is going to be on, howevre, I will be sure to catch the late-night re-air.
I recently found a link to a young man's blog, being written from the front lines in Iraq. It's heartbreaking and fascinating at the same time. Y'all ought to check him out.
My War - Fear and Loathing in Iraq
Man, am I ever glad my dad was too flatfooted to be sent to Vietnam. I don't think I could deal if he was called to serve in Iraq.
57-year-old veteran called for duty
Seriously, y'all, wtf? This "war" was so horribly planned, the ego of this administration so large, that they are going to start sending half-blind grandfather's in to war zones because they simply cannot admit what a disgusting, senseless, unwinnable war they have led us in to. It's so wrong, I can't even begin to say.
